We checked 30 K-beauty products at three stores. Most of the time, the price was identical.

If you shop K-beauty from the US, you've probably picked a favourite store and stuck with it. Ours was going to be a data question: across the same basket of products, which of YesStyle, Stylevana and Olive Young US is actually cheapest?

We checked all three on the same days — 2–3 September 2026 — across 30 products. That's 70 prices. Here is what the numbers said, including the part we didn't expect.

The short answer: usually, nobody wins

Of the 27 products carried by at least two of the three stores, the cheapest price was a tie in 14 of them. Not close — identical. Where there was a single winner, it broke down like this:

The median gap between the cheapest and most expensive store, across those 27 products, was 5%. On a $20 essence that is about $1.00. Real, but not worth an afternoon of comparison shopping.

The part that matters: a cluster, then a cliff

Sort every product's gap from narrowest to widest and a shape appears. Of 27 comparable products, 8 were an exact tie and 19 sat at 10% or under. Then the gaps stop — for a while. The next one up doesn't creep from 10% to 20% to 30%; it jumps straight from 14.3% to 72.4%. Products aren't spread evenly apart. They're either close, or they're wildly apart, with almost nothing in between.

The median gap was 5% (about $1.00 on a $20 essence) and the mean was 21.1%. Treat both as a rough read, not the finding — the distance between them is just the cluster-and-cliff shape above showing up in two summary numbers.

Only 4 of 27 products landed past that cliff, on the far side of 20%. Every one of those same products had a gap wider than 50%:

If you were buying any of these on the day we checked, the store you picked mattered more than any coupon code. If you were buying anything else, it mostly didn't.

We can't tell you why those products sat so far apart. Stylevana runs deep, frequent sales, so a promotional price is the likely explanation — but we recorded what the page showed, not the reason behind it. That's exactly the kind of thing a few months of price history will answer, and a single snapshot cannot.

The thing nobody puts in a comparison table: whether the store has it at all

Before price, there is stock. Of the 30 products we track, 15 are missing from at least one store, and only 13 are actually comparable across all three. By name, for example: none of the 2 products we track from COSRX are carried at YesStyle, none of the 5 products we track from Beauty of Joseon are carried at Olive Young US, and none of the 2 products we track from Laneige are carried at YesStyle.

The Laneige gap isn't just trivia here — it's why 2 of the widest gaps in the table above exist. Every Laneige product we track is one YesStyle doesn't carry, so for those, "cheapest" was only ever a choice between the stores that actually had it. Comparison shopping doesn't help when one of the three stores was never in the running.

So for a lot of the catalogue, "which store is cheapest" is answered by "the one that has it."

What we'd actually do with this

1. Don't agonise for most products. If the gap is a few percent, buy where your cart already clears free shipping. Olive Young US ships free over $35; Stylevana over $48; YesStyle doesn't publish a flat figure. Shipping will usually swamp a 5% price difference.
2. Check before you buy the expensive stuff. The wider the price, the wider the gap tends to be — and a serum or a set is where a large spread shows up as real money.
3. Check availability first, price second. If your brand isn't carried, the price is academic.

How we got these numbers

Every price here was read off the store's own product page and stamped with the date it was confirmed. Nothing is estimated, nothing is scraped, and nothing is carried over from an earlier check — where we couldn't confirm a price, the product is marked rather than guessed at. How we check prices →

Prices are for US delivery and change constantly. Treat this as a snapshot of 2–3 September 2026, not a standing ranking — 27 products, one week of data. We're tracking the same basket over time; whether this cluster-then-cliff shape holds up is exactly the kind of thing we'll be able to answer once more history has accumulated, and we'll rewrite this piece when it does.
